MGS XOF Patch
Keen eyed fans of the series might notice a strong resemblance to the FOX unit insignia. There is actually a very clever secret hidden in the design. Something only Kojima would be capable of. The XOF insignia is a mirror image of FOX’s insignia, and the name of the unit. “XOF” is actually “FOX” backwards. Crazy. (Does that make them X Operation Force?)
XOF was founded by Major Zero alongside FOX in early 60’s as the support “cleanup” unit. FOX did the headline missions, and XOF did all the deniable op dirty work to support them. The unit operates under command of Skull Face, the codename for a multi-lingual man who was horrifically disfigured and looks like a spooky skeleton. Operationally, the unit is dissolved by the end of 1984 following systematic destruction by Venom Snake and the Diamond Dogs.
There are likely still XOF patches hiding around Afghanistan and Angola because no one had time to collect all 120.
