Peltor ComTac/SwatTac has long been a staple of the ear protection market, almost always at the forefront of safety and communication technology for the Police and Military.
From Peltor themselves: "Peltor Comtac 2 features an advanced electronic design that allows for continuous communication on 2-way radios even when batteries fail, only talk-thru feature is inoperable until batteries are replaced. Cup microphones provide talk-thru listening capability. Electronics will instantaneously suppress harmful impact noises to 82 dBA inside the earcups, while amplifying up to 18 dB ambient noises/voices. Military and police radio patch cords available. Easily add a microphone (MT70 or MT21) to the Peltor ComTac 2 by using a wiring harness (FL6AC) and the correct push-to-talk (PTT) adapter for your radio model and you will have 2-way communication. Microphone then can be used on either left or right side. MICH, PASGT and ACH compatible."
While these are definitely not the newest high speed low drag option on the market by a long shot, they're still a fantastic option for entry-level comms due to their NATO downleads that attach to common Peltor & Aftermarket PTTs. And they're compatible with comtac mounts for helmet rails so you can live out your LARP fantasy. They're also water resistant, and take AA batteries (just like your Xbox controller).
So what's the difference between a ComTac and SwatTac? The color. These ComTacs are green, and SwatTacs are black. They're essentially the same headsets for different markets, and will both work with ComTac accessories.
